Head Chef -Urgent Vacancy in QLD For Subclass 457 Work Visa (Australia)

Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of wor experience as a head chef
• Proof of formal qualifications in commercial cookery
• High level of communication skills (IELTS of overall 5.0 or similar)
• Stable background and good progression throughout your career
• A good attitude and the desire to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis

The required scores for each English test are as follows:
IELTS – International English Language Testing System: overall average score of 5, with a minimum score of at least 4.5 in each band; or
OET – Occupational English Test: this is a test for medical and allied health professionals. A “B pass” is required for all 4 components of the OET; or
TOEFL iBT: total band score of 36, with at least 3 in Listening and Reading and at least 12 in Speaking and Writing; or
PTE Pearson Test of English (Academic): Average band score of 36, with minimum of 30 in each band; or
CAE Cambridge English: Advanced: Average band score of 154, with minimum of 147 in each band.
Tests are valid for up to 3 years for the purposes of 457 visa applications, and can be conducted after lodgement of the 457 visa application.

Exemptions From English Language Testing

457 visa applicants must undergo English language testing, unless one of the following exemptions applies:

  • The applicant holds a passport from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada or New Zealand; or
  • The applicant has completed 5 years of education at the secondary or tertiary level in English medium; or
  • The applicant is to be paid over the English Language Skills Exemption Threshold (ELSET), which is currently $96,400

All applicants applying to have their skills assessed by Engineers Australia are required to provide evidence of their English language competency through either of the following tests:

  • IELTS Applicants who provide an IELTS test result must have a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four modules of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Engineers Australia accepts both the General and Academic versions of the test.
  • TOEFL iBT® From the 1st January 2016, Engineers Australia will be accepting the TOEFL iBT® as an alternative English language test to address the English language competency element of the Skills Assessment. Applicants will need a TOEFL iBT® result with the following minimal scores for each module: Listening: 12 Reading: 13 Writing: 21 Speaking: 18
IELTS and TOEFL iBT® results must not be more than 2 years old at the time your application is submitted.

Hospitality Internship Program

The Hospitality Program is a paid internship program offered to highly skilled candidates that are completing or have completed hospitality studies and have relevant hospitality experience. There are 6, 9 & 12 months options. Positions are available in Food and Beverage, Front Office and Cookery.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to be eligible for the Hospitality Internship Program candidates must meet the following requirements:
•Be between the age of 18 – 30
•Have completed at least 2 years of tertiary education in Hospitality, equivalent to diploma level or higher, OR;
•Be a recent Hospitality graduate within 18 months of course completion
•Upper intermediate – advanced English language skills
•Minimum 6 months full time professional experience in the selected internship department (6 months on a continual basis)
•Currently working in the selected internship department
•Flexible and willing to work in rural and remote locations
•Food & Beverage and Front Office applicants: must have some supervisor experience or exposure to supervisor tasks
•Culinary applicants: studies must be specific to Culinary or Commercial Cookery.
